About the Project
The architectural team were tasked with redeveloping the civic campus to deliver a modern workplace within the historic town hall at Waltham Abbey, originally built during the Second World War. Cellular office was replaced with open plan, agile workplaces whilst retaining the original features of the building. We were tasked with installing motorised blinds without disturbing the fabric of the building to ensure ease of use for users. Perhaps the most striking design feature of the refurbishment was the selection of William Morris fabrics for the curtains and soft furnishings throughout the space. William Morris was an iconic figure in the design, print and poetry during the Victorian era with links to the local area.
